Gaby Felten (1981) is a performance, video, and installation artist. She has resided in 9 countries on 3 different continents during her lifetime. Her artistic practice has greatly been influenced by these episodes of temporary residence. Labor, identity formation and alienation are subjects which she deals with often. Felten uses her multiple roles as an artist, a provider of labor, and her status as an EU citizen to scrutinize a specific aspect of globalization: that of 21st century Western cultural predominance. She uses visual colloquialisms and humor to dislodge positions of privilege and marginality.
